I love these Living Stones, but I was concerned that the picture I ordered from showed eleven of the beauties, but I only got four for fifteen dollars. I won’t send them back because it would kill them. I’ve been a plant lover for many years. I love everything you have and have been showing them to everyone.
Rhipsalis baccifera/Mistletoe Cactus (4 inch)
About Rhipsalis baccifera
Rhipsalis baccifera, also known as the mistletoe cactus, is a forest cactus native to Central and South American rainforests belonging to the Cactaceae family. Its stems produce clusters of green segmented pads that resemble mistletoe branches, hence the name. Baccifera bears showy white flowers followed by pearl-shaped pink berries.
How to Care for Rhipsalis baccifera
Sunlight: Situate in bright filtered light for an entire year. Avoid direct hot sunlight in scorching summer, especially during the afternoon. Rotate the planter to receive equal sunlight if this plant is located near the south-face window.
Water: Allow the top inch of soil to slightly dry out before watering thoroughly. Reduce frequency in winter and rainy seasons. Spraying a little water around the plant can increase the humidity in summer to help the plant survive.
Soil: To enhance better drainage, a well-draining cactus potting mix is amended with added 20% to 30% perlite or gravel rocks.
Planter: Choose a medium-sized, heavy planter with drainage holes to grow this plant. Avoid oversized pots that can retain moisture.
Propagation: Take 4-5 inch stem cuttings in spring and allow cut ends to dry for 1-2 days before planting in suitable soil.
Fertilizer: Feed every 2-3 weeks during the active growth with a half-strength balanced cactus fertilizer. Or replant the cactus with organic succulent soil yearly in active growth season.
Disease: Overwatering encourages stem rot. Allow the soil to dry out before the next watering. Discard severely infected plants.
