Accessibility Statement

The Next Gardener is committed to making our website accessible and usable for everyone, including people with disabilities.

Our standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the widely recognized standard for web accessibility. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

What we are doing

Accessibility is an ongoing effort for us. Our current work includes:

  • Completing an accessibility audit of our website (most recently on October 30, 2026) using automated testing tools, with manual review of the results
  • Adding alternative text to product and content images so they can be read by screen readers
  • Making sure buttons, links, and form fields — including our newsletter signup and product quantity controls — have clear, descriptive labels
  • Improving color contrast for text, prices, and headings across the site
  • Reviewing heading structure and keyboard navigation so the site can be used without a mouse
  • Including accessibility checks in our regular website updates

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some content on our site may not yet be fully accessible — for example, some older product images are still being updated with descriptive text. We are addressing these issues as part of the audit and remediation work described above.

Third-party services

Our store is hosted on Shopify, and some functions — such as checkout and payment processing — are provided by Shopify and other third-party services. We encourage our service providers to offer accessible services, but we cannot control their accessibility.
