About Sedum Dendroideum Cuttings
Sedum Dendroideum belongs to the Crassulaceae family, a succulent plant within the Sedum genus. It is a spring and autumn growth type species characterized by its fast growth and easy branching. When mature, it develops smooth and slightly woody branches, perfect for bonsai or potted tree cultivation. Its leaf shape resembles a spoon with a smooth and waxy surface, similar to flower petals. The leaf tips may have a slight twist, and the primary leaf color is a yellow-green jelly-like hue adorned with bright red edges. The leaves grow densely at the top of the branches, resembling blossoms blooming on the tree's limbs when viewed from afar.
How to care for Sedum dendroideum
Sun/Location: Like other succulent plants, Sedum needs very little attention to care. They can thrive in less favorable conditions as well. Sedum dendroideum thrives in bright sunlight. Place the plant where it can receive at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight daily. They need bright sunlight to develop and maintain their best colors. A south-facing window or a sunny spot outdoors is ideal. The bright sunlight helps the plant develop and maintain its vibrant colors.
Temperature: Sedum dendroideum can tolerate various temperatures but prefers moderate to warm conditions. While it can endure brief periods of temperatures as low as 20°F, its optimal range lies between 50-75°F. Although Sedum dendroideum is considered a spring and autumn growth type species, its dormancy period is not very pronounced. It can continue to grow well during the summer with some shade, and in winter, it can safely overwinter with temperatures not dropping below 41°F. Please note that Sedum dendroideum's growth patterns may vary depending on environmental conditions, but generally, it adapts well to moderate temperatures throughout the year.
Watering/Soil: Like most succulents, Sedum dendroideum is drought-tolerant and prefers infrequent watering. Ensure the soil is allowed to dry thoroughly between watering sessions. Excessive watering can result in root rot and other potential problems. During the growing season (spring and summer), water sparingly and reduce watering in the dormant winter months. Use well-draining soil for your Sedum dendroideum. A succulent or cactus-specific potting mix works well. To ensure adequate drainage, you can create your mix by combining regular potting soil with perlite or coarse sand. Click here to get the soil recipe for succulent plants.
