About Haworthia coarctata
Haworthia coarctata is a succulent plant with fleshy green leaves covered in white spots. Its leaves grow in tightly packed cascades, reaching up to 8 inches in height. During summer, it produces green flowers. This plant is an excellent addition to a rock garden. Its leaf foliage color is as varied as a chameleon. The color of the leaves deepens from the tips from bright green to red and then to reddish brown.
How to care for Haworthia coarctata
Sun/Temperature: Haworthia coarctata thrives in strong sunlight and can be placed in areas that receive full light or partial shade. To prevent sunburn on the leaves, avoid exposing the plant to direct sunlight during intense summer months. It prefers temperatures ranging from 60-80°F and should be moved indoors when temperatures drop below 30°F as it is not frost-tolerant.
Soil/Watering: For optimal growth, use a cactus mix or garden soil mixed with organic matter, sand, gravel, pumice or perlite. Haworthia coarctata does not require frequent watering as excessive moisture can lead to root rot. Ensure that the soil is completely dry before watering again. A useful way to determine when it's time to water your plant is to insert a stick into the soil and check if it comes out dry. This method helps prevent overwatering and maintains optimal soil moisture levels.
Pot: Ceramic pots with drainage holes are ideal for Haworthia coarctata as they provide adequate air circulation and drainage for the plant's roots.
Propagation: Haworthia coarctata can be propagated by cutting the leaves and dividing the plant. Simply cut a full and healthy leaf, allow the wound to dry and then place it in dry soil and wait for germination.

Winter shipping
We insist on shipping succulents to our customers all year round. However due to the extreme winter weather, although we pack succulents with as much protective material as possible, plants are still at increased risk of frost on their way to colder areas. We highly recommend adding one 72-hour heat pack to your order or you can request a hold on the package until it warms up.
Please note that The Next Gardener is not responsible for packages that suffer cold damage without a heat pack. We cannot control the weather. Order at your own risk.
