Description
  • Othonna capensis, also called ''Little Pickles'' or ''Ruby Necklace'', a trailing succulent with small green leaves that hang on stems up to 2 feet long. When stressed, the leaves turn puple or bungundy and the stems turn ruby red to purple, in the meanwhile, white tufts of hair come out between stems and leaves, which is extremly stunning in hanging baskets or wall gardens. Small, yellow, and daisy-like blooms all year around.
  • Othonna capensis “Ruby Necklace” can be propagated from stem cuttings. It is no cold hardy, they need to be moved indoor to grow by the window to get at least 6 hour sun exposure or under a grow light to maintain the color. In spring and fall, it can be placed outdoor to get full sunlight. Shade is required in summer to avoid sun burn.
  • Othonna capensis prefers well-drainage soil mix and container with drainage holes to live in, the best way of watering is 'soak and dry' method. Water deeply enough for water to run out the drainage hole, then wait for the soil to fully dry before watering again.
  • Primary color: green/lime
  • Secondary color: purple/black
  • Bloom color: bright-yellow daisy flowers
  • Cold hardiness: zone 9a-11b(from 20F to 50F)
  • Product format: rooted in 4'' pot
  • Suitability: balcony, Window, Garden
  • Propagation: stem cutting
  • Special characteristic: pet safe, showy blooms, easy to propagate, fast grower

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

How to Make Succulent Soil (with Recipe)
Since succulents are native to desert areas, you need to provide them with an environment almost similar to where they originate from. And one of the primary differences between their native habitat and your place is the “Succulent Soil.”
Propagate Succulents from Stem Cuttings
There are three ways to propagate succulents: leaf propagation, stem cutting propagation, and seed propagation. Propagating succulents from cuttings is the most efficient way.
The Ultimate Succulent Care Guide for Beginners
Succulents may be tricky based on the different varieties available and the needs of those varieties. Some require more sunshine or less sunlight or more sunlight, it can be a confusing decision when picking out the first beginner succulent. Typically, most succulents prefer bright but indirect sunlight; however, some types will thrive outdoors and in full sunlight.
Propagate Succulents from Leaves
Propagating succulents from leaves needs time and patience. And it is also a good way for parents to show the magic of nature to children. Take it several tries, you will enjoy succulents propagation. Most tender Sedums and some Echeverias can be propagated with either a leaf or a cutting. But Aeoniums only work with cuttings. In this blog, we will show you how to propagate succulents from leaf.
