Echeveria Baekya/White Night
About Echeveria 'Baekya' (White Night)
Echeveria 'Baekya' is a masterpiece of succulent breeding, forming a dense, architectural rosette of remarkably thick, inward-curving leaves. Its daily look is a cool, sophisticated lime green with a subtle, waxy finish. Even in dormant period, it won't fade to dull green. This is the distinct character different from other E. Champagne.
However, when treated to "healthy stress," the 'Baekya' reveals its true, fiery soul. The pale green base transforms into a stunning spectrum of jelly orange, deep orange, and even rich salmon red. A signature trait of this variety is the delicate white farina lines—distinct markings where the leaves were pressed tightly together during growth—giving the plant a "chiseled" or geometric appearance.
How to Care for Echeveria 'Baekya'
Sun/Location: To unlock the vibrant salmon and orange hues, 'Baekya' requires very bright, filtered light. It thrives in a spot that receives at least 6-8 hours of sunlight daily. In cooler months, the combination of bright light and a sharp drop in night-time temperatures will intensify its deep rose.
Soil/Pot: This variety is particularly sensitive to excess moisture due to its extremely thick leaves. Use a high-grit succulent mix—we recommend 60-70% inorganic material like pumice, perlite, or lava rock. A small terracotta pot is ideal, as it allows the soil to breathe and dry out quickly between waterings.
Watering: Practice strict neglect with the soak-and-dry method. Only water when the soil is 100% dry and the bottom leaves feel slightly soft to the touch. Because the leaves store so much water, this plant can go weeks without a drink. Bottom watering is highly recommended to protect the "chiseled" farina lines and avoid water spots on the foliage.
