About Echeveria 'Gilva'

Echeveria 'Gilva' is medium-sized, a hybrid of E. agavoides and E. elegans, and boasts plump, egg-shaped leaves that curl inwards. The green leaves are accented with reddish tips and white margins, and the plant is more compact than other varieties. But the best part? There are many gorgeous hybrids of Echeveria 'Gilva,' like the stunning Echeveria x Gilva 'Blue Surprise.'

How to care for Echeveria 'Gilva'

Sun/Temperature: Did you know that Echeveria 'Gilva' can turn into a stunning translucent jelly-orange color with enough sunlight? The longer it basks in the sun, the brighter and more beautiful it becomes. To thrive, Echeveria 'Gilva' prefers warm and dry conditions and can grow in temperatures between 60-80°F. It's also incredibly hardy and can tolerate temperatures between 40-95°F.

Soil: We recommend using a loose and airy mix of peat/coconut coir and granular soil for best results. However, the proportion of each component depends on the size of your plant. For small Echeveria 'Gilva,' a 50/50 split between peat and granular soil is ideal as it promotes rooting and growth. On the other hand, if you own a larger Echeveria 'Gilva,' it's best to use a higher percentage of granular soil, around 70%. This method will help keep the leaves compact and upright, giving your plant a beautiful appearance.

Watering: To keep your Echeveria 'Gilva' thriving, avoiding waterlogging is best. Opt for a soak and dry watering technique, and always check for standing water post-watering. When the temperature drops below 40°F, cut off watering and dry the pot to prevent frost damage.

Pot: Echeveria 'Gilva' needs pots with drainage holes to prevent standing water.

Propagation: Echeveria 'Gilva' clusters quickly so that offsets can be propagated. This is done by separating the root system of the succulent into multiple offsets with a sterilized, sharp knife, then transplanting these offsets into new soil after drying out the wounds so they can grow into new plants.

In general, it takes 3 to 10 days for plants to arrive after you place your order. All orders will be shipped out 48 hours after you place them. We ship the orders on work days(from Monday to Saturday) and all year round. In normal conditions, it will take 3-10 days for you to receive the package. Estimated shipping times are offered as needed.

Winter shipping

We insist on shipping succulents to our customers all year round. However due to the extreme winter weather, although we pack succulents with as much protective material as possible, plants are still at increased risk of frost on their way to colder areas. We highly recommend adding one 72-hour heat pack to your order or you can request a hold on the package until it warms up.

Please note that The Next Gardener is not responsible for packages that suffer cold damage without a heat pack. We cannot control the weather. Order at your own risk.

Hawaii, Alaska, and Other US Territories

Fortunately, shipping is available to Alaska, Guam, and other U.S. Territories. However, due to numerous factors beyond our control, including customs checks and shipping delays, free shipping to Hawaii and Puerto Rico is not an option. And we can not provide the 14-day quality guarantee for orders going to Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The buyer will assume all risk of damage when a delivery is delayed. We appreciate your understanding.

Sorry. No International Shipping for now!!!
