Echeveria Hera (4 inch)
About Echeveria Hera (4 inch)
Echeveria Hera is a hybrid variety of Echeveria purpusorum and E. 'Afterglow'. Its leaves are blueish-purple with vibrant red edges and coated with a farina layer. The leaves are rounded with sharp tips, arranged neatly in a lotus-like rosette, imparting an elegant and poised appearance.
How to care for Echeveria Hera (4 inch)
Sun: Echeveria Hera thrives in bright sunlight, requiring daily 3-4 hours of direct or indirect sunlight. Indoors, place it near a bright window or under artificial lighting. During hot summers, especially in the afternoon, please protect it from intense direct sunlight with shade or by moving it to a more relaxed environment.
Temperature: Echeveria Hera prefers warm climates, with ideal growth temperatures between 60°F to 75°F. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures, exceptionally high or low extremes, which can stress the plant. Temperatures exceeding 85°F can be mitigated by air conditioning or improved ventilation. In winter, ensure indoor temperatures remain above 40°F and provide extra light to keep it warm.
Soil/Pot: Plant Echeveria Hera in a well-draining, airy medium such as a 50:50 mix of peat/coir and regular soil, adjusting the mix based on local air humidity. Higher humidity warrants more coarse material to enhance drainage.
Watering: Echeveria Hera dislikes overwatering. After watering, make
sure the soil dries out completely. Consider using the "bath watering" method to ensure thorough hydration of the root system while avoiding direct water contact on the leaves to prevent rot. Reduce watering frequency in summer and winter.
Propagation: Echeveria Hera propagates easily through offsets. Here's how to propagate using offsets:
1. Echeveria Hera plants typically produce side shoots or offsets near the base. Select a healthy offset.
2. Carefully cut the offset from the plant using a sharp knife or fingers.
3. Place the separated offset in a ventilated, shaded area to dry and callous for a few days.
4. Gently insert the dried offset into a succulent-specific soil mix or sandy soil, positioning it in a ventilated, bright, indirectly lit area.
5. Maintain slight soil moisture with periodic misting for 1-2 weeks until roots develop, and continue regular care.
