About Echeveria 'Ice Berry' Hybrid
Echeveria 'Ice Berry' Hybrid is a stunning, crystal-like succulent admired for its frosty appearance and elegant color transformation. Carrying the genetics of Echeveria 'Creamy Berry', this variety combines soft pastel tones with a refined, powdery finish that makes it highly attractive among collectors.
Before reaching its peak coloration, the leaves display a calm blue-green tone with a cool, icy appearance. As the plant matures and receives suitable growing conditions, the foliage gradually transitions from grayish-white to soft pink, while a fine deep red rim develops along the leaf edges, creating a beautiful contrast against the pale leaves. Covered with a delicate layer of white farina, Echeveria 'Ice Berry' Hybrid has a naturally frosted surface that enhances its crystal-like beauty and gives the plant an elegant appearance.
How to Care for Echeveria 'Ice Berry' Hybrid
Sun/Location: Echeveria 'Ice Berry' Hybrid prefers bright light conditions to maintain its compact rosette shape and encourage its attractive pastel coloration. Several hours of gentle morning sunlight or bright filtered light can help enhance the pink tones and deepen the red leaf margins. To bring out stronger colors, provide sufficient light combined with natural day-and-night temperature differences, especially during spring and autumn. In areas with intense summer heat, protect the plant from harsh afternoon sun to prevent stress damage. When grown indoors, place it near a bright window or use a grow light to provide adequate intensity.
Soil/Pot: A breathable, fast-draining soil mix is important for maintaining healthy roots and preserving the plant’s compact growth. Use a succulent substrate containing mineral materials such as pumice, perlite, lava rock, or coarse sand to improve drainage and prevent prolonged moisture around the roots. Choose a pot with drainage holes and avoid oversized containers, as excess soil can remain wet for too long and increase the risk of root rot. Since the leaves are covered with farina, handle the plant carefully during repotting to avoid rubbing away its natural powder coating.
Watering: Allow the soil to dry completely before watering again. During active growth in spring and autumn, water thoroughly and let excess water drain away before allowing the soil to dry. Reduce watering during extremely hot summers and cold winters, when the plant’s growth slows down and moisture is used more slowly. Avoid spraying water directly onto the leaves, as it can disturb the farina layer and may leave unwanted marks on the powdery surface. Good airflow is also important, especially in humid environments, to reduce the risk of fungal issues and rot.
