About Echeveria 'Jade Cane'
The leaves of Echeveria 'Jade Cane' feature very distinct blood-red spots on the leaves. When the plant reaches its peak coloration, its green leaves transform into an orange-red hue; the blood-red spots become even more pronounced, and the overall texture of the leaves takes on a glossy, translucent quality.
How to Care for Echeveria 'Jade Cane'
Sun/Location: Provide Echeveria Jade Cane with sufficient bright light to keep the compact form. With ample temperature stress, the plant would get triggered and transform the charming orange-red hue. And the bloody spots on the leaves would be more obvious. Thus, putting the succulent near the south-facing window, or an outdoor location with partial shade, is a nice choice.
Soil/Pot: Like many succulents, Echeveria 'Morandi Purple' stores a large amount of water in its leaves and therefore prefers a loose, airy, and fast-draining soil mix. Adding extra perlite, pumice, or gritty stones to regular garden soil can create an ideal growing medium with improved drainage and aeration. Since this is a relatively slow-growing variety, a small pot that is only slightly larger than the plant itself, preferably with drainage holes, works best for maintaining healthy root conditions.
Watering: Allow the potting soil to dry out completely before watering again. Bottom watering is especially recommended during summer, as it helps prevent excess moisture from remaining in the crown of the plant. However, watering succulents in hot weather can still be risky if airflow is poor, since stagnant humidity may easily lead to fungal problems or rot. Providing additional ventilation, such as placing a small fan near the plants, can be very beneficial when necessary. During cooler months, reduce watering frequency significantly. If the succulent appears severely dehydrated, a small amount of water can be given on warm, sunny days, but avoid watering at night when temperatures are lower and evaporation slows down.
