Echeveria Malgan x Queen sp.
About Echeveria Malgan x Queen sp.
Echeveria Malgan x Queen sp. is a type of succulent belonging to the Echeveria genus within the Crassulaceae family. It is a hybrid of E. agavoides and E. elegans. It has a strong waxy texture, shiny and glossy, with thick and even translucent leaves. The overall color is yellowish-green. The leaves have pointed tips and may turn red when thriving.
How to care for Echeveria Malgan x Queen sp.
Sun: Echeveria Malgan x Queen sp. cannot tolerate intense sunlight as prolonged exposure to strong light can cause dehydration, resulting in dull and lackluster leaves. During its growth period, it requires around six hours of indirect sunlight per day, while during the dormant period, four hours of light exposure daily is sufficient.
Temperature: It is not resistant to cold or high temperatures. The suitable temperature for its growth is around 68°F. It will enter a dormant period below 41°F or above 77°F. If the temperature exceeds 77°F in summer, it must be cooled down. It must be kept warm in winter when temperatures are lower than 41°F.
Soil: For optimal soil care of Echeveria Malgan x Queen sp., it is recommended to incorporate particles into the soil mixture. When it is small and young, a lower proportion of particles, around 30%, is suggested. This helps provide some moisture retention and stability for the young plant. As the Echeveria matures, the proportion of particles can be increased to approximately 70%. This adjustment allows for improved drainage and aeration, which benefits the plant's root system as it grows. By adjusting the granule ratio based on the plant's development stage, you can provide suitable soil conditions that support the healthy growth of Echeveria Malgan x Queen sp.
Watering: Echeveria Malgan x Queen sp. is a drought-tolerant succulent, so allowing the soil to dry out between waterings is essential. Let the soil completely dry before watering the Echeveria Malgan x Queen sp. Typically, this means watering every 7-10 days during the growing season (spring and summer) and reducing the frequency during the dormant season (fall and winter) to once every 2-3 weeks. When watering, using the "soak and dry" method is best. This means thoroughly watering the soil until water drains out of the bottom of the pot. Ensure the excess water is allowed to drain completely to avoid waterlogging the roots.
Fertilizer: During the growth period, fertilizer needs to be fertilized once every half month. The fertilizer should use nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium compound fertilizer(The recommended ratio is 2:1:2) because the compound fertilizer has comprehensive nutrition and can fully meet the needs of plants. Stop fertilization during the dormant period to avoid fertilizer damage.
Propagation: To propagate Echeveria Malgan x Queen sp., take a leaf from the parent plant using a sterile knife or scissors. Dry it for a few days to create a callous. Use well-draining soil for your new succulent. Water it when the soil dries out.
