About Echeveria 'PikaChu'
Echeveria 'PikaChu' is a rare hybrid in Korea, leaves are covered with a plump and broad layer of farina, which has a pointed tip. The underside of the leaf is green, and the upper part is brownish-red. The leaves are tightly arranged in a rosette formation.
How to Care for Echeveria 'Pikachu'
Sun/Temperature: Adequate sunlight is essential for Echeveria 'Pikachu' to maintain its compact form and beautiful coloration, and it requires 5-6 hours of bright direct or indirect light per day. Echeveria 'PikaChu' prefers warmer conditions but can tolerate some lower temperatures. It thrives in temperatures from 50-80°F. Because freezing temperatures can severely damage or even kill the plant, it is important to bring it indoors during the colder months.
Soil/Watering: A well-drained soil mixture is crucial for Echeveria' Pikachu' 's proper growth and well-being. Alternatively, you can create one by combining equal parts of potting soil, coarse sand, and perlite. To water your plant from the bottom, immerse it for about fifteen minutes or until the soil surface is moist.
Pot: It is essential to ensure that your container has enough drainage holes for proper water drainage.
Propagation: Leaf propagation can be achieved by selecting healthy leaves and allowing them to dry in the shade to form calluses. Then, using a spray bottle, they can be transferred to slightly moist soil.
Disease and Pest: Aphids feed on Echeveria 'PikaChu' sap, which causes the leaves to twist and secrete honeydew. However, you can clean up the mess by wiping the leaves with a soapy solution. On the other hand, overwatering can result in the stems softening, yellowing, and stunting growth, which can eventually lead to root rot. Hence, it is essential to water sparingly and watch for standing water.
