About Echeveria Setosa 'Aoinagisa'

Common Names: Hairy Echeveria, Woolly Echeveria
Botanical Classification: Crassulaceae Family, Echeveria Genus
Origin: Originally from Puebla, Mexico

Characteristics:

Echeveria Setosa 'Aoinagisa', also known as the Hairy Echeveria, is a stemless succulent characterized by rosettes comprising more than 100 leaves.

The leaves are approximately 5-7 cm long and 2 cm wide, with a narrow base and a thicker, oval-shaped tip. They are green with reddish-brown tips and covered in 0.3 cm long white hairs.

The flower stalks can reach 20-30 cm heights, bearing multiple small yellow-red flowers.

It resembles other commonly cultivated species within the same family, such as Sempervivum, but distinguishes itself with its stemless growth and thicker leaves lacking red margins.

How to Care for Echeveria Setosa 'Aoinagisa'

Soil/Potting: To ensure the health of succulent plants, it is crucial to use porous, well-draining soil. Mixing cactus soil with perlite, pumice, or gravel into regular soil helps provide proper drainage. Adding topdressing rocks enhances their beauty and keeps the plants clean.

Pot Selection: Opt for pots with good ventilation, such as coarse terracotta, red clay, or earthenware. Avoid non-breathable pots like ceramic or cement, which can hinder proper airflow.

Light: Echeveria Setosa 'Aoinagisa' prefers warm, well-lit locations with some shade during peak summer and autumn hours. It can tolerate partial shade and does not enter a distinct dormancy period.

Temperature: Ideal growth temperatures range from 64.4°F to 82.4°F, with winter temperatures not dropping below 41°F. Suitable for outdoor cultivation, with spring and autumn being the main growth periods. If the temperature is too low, you may need to purchase a heating pack during transportation to prevent plants from being frostbitten.

Watering: Echeveria Setosa 'Aoinagisa' is drought-tolerant and should only be watered when the soil is completely dry. Overwatering, especially in winter, can lead to root rot.
