How to Care for Echeveria 'Tesla'

Sun/Location:

Echeveria 'Tesla' grows best in bright light with several hours of gentle direct sunlight each day. Adequate light helps maintain its compact rosette and encourages the yellow, golden, peach, orange, and pink tones that can develop on the leaves. Morning sun or bright filtered light is a good starting point, especially when moving the plant into stronger light. To bring out its best coloration, gradually increase light exposure and provide natural day-and-night temperature differences when possible. During very hot summer weather, protect the plant from intense afternoon sun to reduce the risk of leaf damage and heat stress. Indoors, place it near a bright south- or east-facing window or supplement with a grow light.

Soil/Pot:

Use a loose, gritty, and fast-draining soil mix for Echeveria 'Tesla'. Its thick leaves store moisture, so the roots benefit from a substrate that dries relatively quickly between waterings. Mineral materials such as pumice, perlite, lava rock, or coarse sand can improve drainage and airflow around the roots. Choose a pot with drainage holes and a container only slightly larger than the root system. Avoid oversized pots, as excess soil can retain moisture for too long and increase the risk of root problems.

Watering:

Water using the soak-and-dry method, allowing the soil to dry completely before watering again. When the plant is actively growing in spring and autumn, water thoroughly and allow excess moisture to drain away completely, during periods of extreme summer heat or winter cold, reduce watering because growth may slow and the plant will use less water. Avoid frequent, small amounts of water, which can keep the soil consistently moist. When watering, direct water toward the soil and avoid allowing water to remain trapped in the center of the rosette. Good airflow is especially helpful in humid conditions.

In general, it takes 3 to 10 days for plants to arrive after you place your order. All orders will be shipped out 48 hours after you place them. We ship the orders on work days(from Monday to Saturday) and all year round. In normal conditions, it will take 3-10 days for you to receive the package. Estimated shipping times are offered as needed.

HOLIDAYS: During weeks in which a holiday occurs - Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, etc. - shipping may be delayed until the following week.

EXTREME WEATHER NOTICE: The Next Gardener reserves the right to hold shipments during storms or periods of extreme heat or cold. This is to ensure your plant does not suffer while it is in transit.

Winter shipping

We insist on shipping succulents to our customers all year round. However due to the extreme winter weather, although we pack succulents with as much protective material as possible, plants are still at increased risk of frost on their way to colder areas. We highly recommend adding one 72-hour heat pack to your order or you can request a hold on the package until it warms up.

Fortunately, shipping is available to Alaska, Guam, and other U.S. Territories. However, due to numerous factors beyond our control, including customs checks and shipping delays, free shipping to Hawaii and Puerto Rico is not an option. And we can not provide the 14-day quality guarantee for orders going to Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The buyer will assume all risk of damage when a delivery is delayed. We appreciate your understanding.
