About Graptosedum Miul
Graptosedum Miul is a rarely stunning cross succulent between Graptopetalum Amethystinum and Sedum Clavatum, belonging to the Graptopetalum genus in the Crassulaceae family. The orangish-pinkish with pale green thick and flesh ovate-shaped foliage bearing the farina coating forms the compact rosette, prone to grow tense branches and form clusters. The leaves with obtuse apex alternate in the erect stem, turning pinkish when Graptosedum Miul is happily stressed. The cutie appearance and the low maintenance make this surprise hit in the hobby succulent collections.
How to care for Graptosedum Miul
Sun/Location: The maintenance of Graptosedum Miul can be referred to as its parent plant Graptopetalum Amethystinum. Graptosedum Miul prefers full sun to partial shade to develop its optimal shape and color. Therefore, it is appropriate to absorb the full sun for at least 4-6 hours during the growing period in spring and autumn. Remove Graptosedum Miul indoors to shade in the heatwave and supply full-spectrum LED grow lights to defend against the severe cold in winter.
Soil/Pot: Graptosedum Miu is happy to thrive in excellent permeability pots such as clay and ceramic planters. Add a layer of sand or decomposed granite to encourage good drainage. Graptosedum Miu loves to sit in the porous and ventilated potting soil with soft materials such as perlite or pumice, evaporating the moisture smoothly to avoid rot roots. Repot in warm spring to upgrade the potting mix to improve the porosity. Give your baby succulent a nice trim during repotting to remove the nasty mold and bacteria section, bringing healthier and fresh roots to grow happily.
Watering: Graptosedum Miu is also a desert-dwelling, drought-tolerant plant with abundant moisture content in the hypertrophic leaves. Properly reduce watering when uncertain when to water, especially in summer. Excessive water may cause waterlogging, bacteria, and fungal diseases in hot and humid summer environments. The soak-and-dry method is generally applied when the upper potting soil is bone dry in other seasons.
Humidity: Keeping the air humidity at 40%-60% is an ideal environment for the growth of succulent plants. The moist conditions could encourage insect pests and fungal diseases. Graptosedum Miu prefers a warm and dry climate, avoiding a sultry and humid environment. Pay attention to shelter in the rainy seasons.
Pest Control: It would not be well-ventilated indoors in winter with insufficient sunshine, resulting in succulents being prone to get sick from the pests. The temperature rises in spring, which is conducive to pest eggs hatching. Therefore, when the temperature is significantly warmer, some particulate pesticides should be embedded in the soil. Isolate the plants with bugs from other healthy plants to prevent the spread of pests when affected. Disinfect the new potting soil at a high temperature when repotting, which kills the eggs and insect pests efficiently.
