-About Echeveria 'Elsa'-

Echeveria 'Elsa': A compact, icy blue rosette with a thick coating of powdery farina that gives it a soft appearance. It is a succulent of the Echeveria genus in the Crassulacea family. This cultivar is a hybrid of E. elegans x E. lilacina. Grow this beauty in bright sun, and it can even blush pink at its leaf tips. And the leaves often exhibit beautiful dark markings or patterns. These dark markings can take the form of intricate veins or streaks, adding an elegant touch to the overall aesthetics of the plant. The plant can produce multiple offsets or "pups" around the base, which leads to its tendency to form clusters or multiple heads.

-How to care for Echeveria 'Elsa'-

Sun: Echeveria Elsa thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. Please place it where it can receive 4 to 6 hours of indirect sunlight daily. Avoid exposing it to intense, direct sunlight, as it can lead to sunburn or leaf damage. Morning sunlight is preferred, so position it near an east-facing window or provide filtered light through a sheer curtain. Monitor the plant for any signs of stretching or discoloration, adjusting the light levels accordingly. During winter or low-light conditions, consider supplementing with artificial grow lights. By providing the right amount of sunlight, you can ensure the health and well-being of Echeveria Elsa.

Temperature: Echeveria Elsa thrives in moderate temperatures between 65°F and 75°F. Please protect it from extreme heat and direct sun, which can cause leaf damage. Provide shade or move the plant to a cooler location during hot periods. Avoid exposing it to freezing temperatures below 30°F and protect it from frost. Moderate temperature fluctuations are generally tolerated, but avoid rapid changes. When growing indoors, maintain a suitable room temperature and avoid cold drafts.

Soil: Echeveria 'Elsa' thrives in a mix that allows excess water to drain quickly. A recommended soil mix is a combination of regular potting soil, coarse sand, and perlite in equal parts. This blend ensures good drainage and prevents the roots from sitting in soggy soil. Heavy soils, such as clay or garden soil, should be avoided as they retain water and can lead to root rot. These soils do not provide the ideal conditions for Echeveria 'Elsa' to thrive. Select pots or containers with drainage holes to allow excess water to escape. This prevents water from pooling in the soil and causing root issues. Ensure the pot size is proportionate to the plant's root system, providing enough space for growth.

Watering: Watering Echeveria Elsa varies with the seasons. In spring and summer, water more frequently, allowing the soil to completely dry between waterings. Reduce watering in the fall, only watering when the soil is completely dry. During winter dormancy, water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Adjust watering based on environmental conditions and monitor soil moisture to maintain the plant's health.

Propagation: The easiest way to propagate Echeveria 'Elsa' is through offsets or "pups." Simply identify the small plantlets growing at the base of the parent plant and gently detach them, ensuring they have their own roots. Plant the offsets in well-draining pots with succulent potting mix, placing them in a bright location with indirect sunlight. Monitor their watering, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings completely. Treat the offsets like mature 'Elsa' plants, following the care guidelines mentioned earlier. Propagation through offsets is a simple and effective method to grow new 'Elsa' plants quickly.

Winter shipping

We insist on shipping succulents to our customers all year round. However due to the extreme winter weather, although we pack succulents with as much protective material as possible, plants are still at increased risk of frost on their way to colder areas. We highly recommend adding one 72-hour heat pack to your order or you can request a hold on the package until it warms up.

Please note that The Next Gardener is not responsible for packages that suffer cold damage without a heat pack. We cannot control the weather. Order at your own risk.

Hawaii, Alaska, and Other US Territories

Fortunately, shipping is available to Alaska, Guam, and other U.S. Territories. However, due to numerous factors beyond our control, including customs checks and shipping delays, free shipping to Hawaii and Puerto Rico is not an option. And we can not provide the 14-day quality guarantee for orders going to Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The buyer will assume all risk of damage when a delivery is delayed. We appreciate your understanding.
