About Cotyledon Pendens
Cotyledon Pendens is also commonly known as Cliff Cotyledon. A unique trailing succulent that grows up to 2 feet (60 cm) long. The leaf surface is whitish-grey-green due to the powdery bloom and with reddish margins. When the plant flowers, it is known to produce orange to red bell-shaped flowers. One fascinating aspect of this succulent is the delicate fragrance it emits, adding to its charm.
How to care for Cotyledon Pendens
Sun/Location: Like most succulents, Cotyledon Pendens thrives in ample indirect light, especially during the mild seasons of spring and autumn. Allowing them to bask outdoors before the intense heat sets in enhances their foliage, turning the leaf edges red and intensifying their fragrance. Temperature fluctuations also play a crucial role in enhancing the succulent's colors, as greater day-night temperature differences result in beautiful pigmentation. Shade is required in summer to avoid sunburn. In winter, protection from frost is needed.
Soil/Pot: To ensure the health of Cotyledon succulents, they need a porous, well-draining cactus soil mix to live in. Succulents require little watering but don't like to sit in wet soil. Potting soil for succulents is always recommended; you can also make succulent soil yourself. Choose a hanging pot for your Cotyledon Pendens and place it in a prominent spot in your room. Once this hanging succulent blooms, the bell-shaped flowers dangling down will surely bring you a delightful surprise.
Watering: Many novices wonder how to water succulents; the best way of watering is the 'soak and dry method. Water thoroughly when the soil is dry. Most succulents are dormant during the summer and winter when watering should be less frequent. Click here to learn the detail care guide on Cotyledon Pendens.
